Zapping acquires rights to broadcast South American Qualifiers starting today

Chilean OTT pay TV Zapping has officially announced this last Tuesday, June 1st, that it will broadcast all the South American Qualifiers matches for the next FIFA World Cup from this Thursday until March next year.

According to the terms of the agreement, from Zapping they reported that those who enter the platform will be able to access all the matches to be disputed by the Chilean National Team during the competition, as well as its friendly matches, as well as the rest of the matches that take place during the Qualifiers, with the exception of those that the Argentine National Team disputes as a local team.

The South American Qualifiers will be played for the first time this year today, Thursday, June 3rd; and next Tuesday the 8th, on what will be the 7th and 8th fixture dates of the competition. For this reason, Zapping enabled channels 17 and 18, where it will broadcast the 10 matches that will be played during both dates. In the case of Chile, the team will face Argentina tonight from the Madre de Ciudades Stadium (Santiago del Estero, Argentina), while next Tuesday it will play as a local team against Bolivia, at the Estadio Nacional (Santiago de Chile, Chile) .

From Zapping they reported that the acquisition of the rights to broadcast the Qualifiers matches took place after the FTA TV channel Chilevision (recently acquired by ViacomCBS) had not been able to acquire them for its digital environment. ‘At Zapping we aim to deliver the best experience to our users, and blocking content through the internet is something that hurts both Chilevision and us and the entire industry. That is why we made this effort, in order to be able to air all the matches of the Chilean National Team to our users’, they reported from the platform.

The Zapping announcement joins a series of new features that the platform has recently made available, such as the option to make catch up on its content for an up to 24-hours period, or the ability to restart a program. In addition, each user can choose the quality in which they want to watch each available program, both in full HD or in HD, and others. The new updates are available on LG and Samsung TVs, Android TV, Roku devices, and soon on Apple TV. The Zapping offer includes more than 100 live TV channels and the possibility of hiring premium channels.
