Xiaomi launches free OTT for its SmarTVs in Spain

Xiaomi, the Chinese company that manufactures technological devices such as Smart TVs and next-generation cell phones, announced that it will launch a new free OTT that will be available from 2022 on the interface of all its SmartTVs in Spain. As detailed by the company, Mi TV + will have access to 60 linear channels for all users in the region, at no additional cost.

Like the Pluto TV format, ViacomCBS’s free IPTV, Xiaomi’s platform will not require any subscription or registration to access the content, but will be directly enabled for viewing from televisions. So far, the only announcement made by the brand did not include any information about any VoD content catalog, so it is believed that, at least initially, the offer will only cover the transmission of linear channels.

According to the Spanish news portal Genbeta, in addition to the international and English programming that it will begin to broadcast from its launch, Xiaomi plans to incorporate local and Spanish content to the OTT to provide a more personalized experience to users in the European country. In addition, it described that the signals will be named under categories such as News, Lifestyle, Sports, Comedy, Cinema and Fun.
