The Colombian premium channel Win Sports + officially announced that it will not charge the March bill to its subscribers, due to the Professional Football League temporary cancellation in that country, because of the global health emergency declared, attending to prevention measures against the advance of Covid-19 (Coronavirus).
As Win Sports + officially reported, the decision not to charge subscribers the March bill will be valid both for customers who have acquired the channel through TV operators, and for those who have subscribed through the Win Sports Online platform. Win Sports+ promised to continue broadcasting its programming, despite the fact that there are no football matches scheduled by decision of the Colombian Football Major Division (Dimayor) and the Colombian Football Federation.
Jaime Parada, Executive President at Win Sports, had officially reported at the time of the launch of the premium channel, that Win Sports+ would include 60 football matches per month on average on its grid. The executive had also highlighted that the Win Sports+ programming will include live broadcast of Colombian football matches at its different championships, in addition to the Turkish Super League and analysis and news programs. The channel also announced that it has reached 40% of the subscribers goal it has set itself for this year.
Last year a similar case took place in Chile when, due to the political and social situation lived in the country, the Professional Football National Association (ANFP) decided to cancel the local football tournament. As a result, the country’s Telecommunications Subsecretary (Subtel) asked pay TV operators and the Chilean Football Channel (CDF) to apply measures to compensate subscribers for football broadcasts not developed by the situation.
