According to the information reported by the Brazilian website UOL, WarnerMedia (AT&T), owner of the TNT Sports channel, intends to negotiate for the Copa Libertadores TV rights in Latin America, for the 2023-2026 period. The news has not been confirmed by any company executive yet. Also, according to UOL, WanerMedia would start negotiations for the football competition in the second half of this year, and the definition would take place in the first half of 2022.
The news comes after, during the first months of this year, the company announced a plan to centralize its sports content under the ‘TNT Sports’ brand. In addition, UOL reported that the negotiation to market the TV rights of the Copa Libertadores will be negotiated by the FC Diez Media firm, on behalf of Conmebol, the company responsible for organizing the competition.
Until the end of 2022, the competition’s TV rights belong to ESPN and Fox Sports (The Walt Disney Company) and Facebook in Latin America, while in Brazil Conmebol TV, a channel recently launched in the country, owned by Conmebol, is also added; together with SBT.
