VTR reduces subscriptions to unemployed clients due to Coronavirus on up to 80%

The Chilean pay TV operator VTR announced that, from this Wednesday, April 1st, those customers of the company who got unemployed due to the Covid-19 pandemic (Coronavirus) in the period between  March 15th and April 30th and have a fixed VTR service hired, will pay the subscription for three months for CH $ 9,990 (USD 11.82). The measure means an up to 80% reduction compared with the original value.

‘With this measure, our aim is to support our clients who got unemployed and are today facing a complex situation. We understand that telecommunications are a basic service right now, and the entire population needs to stay connected’, said Guillermo Ponce, General Manager at VTR. ‘We are committed to our customers and will continue to take whatever measures are necessary to support them’, he added.

From VTR they explained that this benefit will be available to 10 thousand clients who have a service hired for more than six months, and will apply both for those who have a single fixed service and for packaged plans (double pack or triple pack). In addition, they reported that, in case the client is still unemployed once the original term has ended, they may request an additional extension for three months. To access the benefit, customers must enter the VTR website between April 1st and April 30th. The discount will be effective from the next invoice.

Another measure adopted by VTR due to the spread of the Coronavirus was the launch of the ‘VTR Covid-19’ channel, together with the Health Ministry and the Chilean Telecommunications Subsercretary (Subtel), with the aim of reporting on the pandemic.  The channel is available to all VTR TV clients from last March 25th.
