Chilean telecommunications company VTR (Liberty Latin America) has officially announced this Tuesday, August 3rd, the launch of NextGen TV, a new STB manufactured in partnership with TiVo, and based on Android TV Operator Tier. The announcement was made this Tuesday during VTRTech, an event in which the company introduced its main launches for the second half of the year in terms of products and services.
According to information officially reported by VTR, the new device only requires an internet connection for its operation, as well as to connect it to the TV set using an HDMI cable. VTR describes NextGen TV as a new TV system, which combines cloud computing, machine learning and artificial intelligence, with the aim of adding more entertainment content to its customers. The STB comes with an intelligent remote control, which allows VTR’s clients to perform voice commands to search for content from YouTube, Google and VTR+, the company’s new TV on demand initiative, launched this year.
With NexGen TV, VTR customers will be able to access all content from VTR, VTR+ and VTR + Kids, which categorizes the available content into 29 folders. In addition, they will be able to directly access games and applications, such as Disney+, HBO Max, Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, Twitch, and others. In addition, NextGen TV’s smart control provides direct access to VTR + and Netflix. It is also possible to pause, fast-forward, restart and record content.
Juan Antonio Palermino, Advertising Sales Assistant Manager at VTR, is one of the confirmed speakers for the coming Nextv Series South America’s virtual edition, a leading conference to be held by Dataxis.
