ViacomCBS officially announced on Tuesday that the US FTA TV channel CBS launched the mobile app CBS News and, this way, began its landing in Latin America. CBS News offers access to CBSN, a free service that includes news contents 24 hours a day. Additionally, recently Bob Bakish, CEO at ViacomCBS, announced plans to relaunch CBS All Access in 2021 and expand its reach in the international market.
As officially reported by the company, from now on, users in Argentina, Brazil, China, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Mexico, Peru, South Korea, and the UK will be able to access CBSN from the application on various platforms and streaming services, in addition of the website on mobile devices and computers.
‘Our data and research shows us that there is a growing global demand for CBS News news reports on topics and events that interest everyone’, said Christy Tanner, EVP & General Manager at CBS News Digital. ‘With the CBSN available available in global mobile app stores, we can now offer vital, immediate and in-depth coverage on news of relevant and crucial events to more viewers in more places in the world’, said the executive.
With the launch, CBSN is now available in 89 countries worldwide through Amazon Fire TV, Android, Android TV, Chromecast, and Chromecast-enabled devices, and LG and VIZIO SmartCast Smart TVs in the US and Canada.
