Viacom launches streaming channel with classic Nickelodeon shows

Viacom announced the launch of NickSplat, a new streaming channel available on VRV service in the United States, which includes about 30 classic shows of Nickelodeon.
The slate of the network’s 1990s classics includes “CatDog”, “AAAHH!!! Real Monsters”, “The Wild Thornberrys” and “The Angry Beavers”, among others. VRV service is available in the United States for a monthly subscription of USD 9.99 and includes other channels such as Crunchyroll, Funimation and Rooster Teeth.
VRV is owned by Ellation, a company with presence in Latin America through Crunchyroll, which is now part of the AT&T portfolio after the acquisition of Otter Media.
The launch of NickSplat is in line with Viacom’s strategy of expanding its content footprint within the digital universe, both via the company’s own channels and over third-party platforms.
According to Sam Cooper, Executive Vice President of Distribution and Business Development Partnerships, “Viacom’s content – including our deep library of genre-defining television – is highly in demand, and our audiences are always looking for new and innovative ways to enjoy our programming,”
“We’re committed to finding the best partners to bring our individual brands direct to the consumer, and this relationship with VRV is an exciting step forward in our strategy,” the executive added.
Terry Li, vice president at Ellation and general manager of international markets for Crunchyroll, will participate as speaker in the next edition of NexTV CEO Latin America, the leading conference to be held on November 1 and 2 in Miami. Ezequiel Fonseca Zas, SVP Multiplatform Strategy & Marketing at Viacom, will also participate in the event.
