Univision acquires rights to broadcast 2021 Copa America in Spanish on TUDN

Pay TV channel TUDN (Televisa and Univision), focused on sports content and originally launched in July 2019,  has announced it has acquired the rights to broadcast the 2021 Copa America in Spanish, in Mexico and in the US. According to the information that Univision has officially reported, The deal gives TUDN access to the 28 matches from this competition, as well as additional Conmebol events, including Women’s Copa America, and others.

‘We are excited to see the crown jewel of South American football return to the Univision family, as TUDN continues to double-down on its promise to provide the best football from around the world’, said Juan Carlos Rodriguez, President of Sports at Univision. 

The executive has also added that  the deal grants TUDN the three biggest football Leagues, for a total of nine competitions and 120 matches, including the Copa America 2021; the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup and UEFA Euro 2020; as well as the UEFA Champions League Final, the Liga MX ‘Guardianes’ 2021 Final; the Concacaf Nations League, Mexican ‘Campeon de Campeones’; the MLS All-Star Game, and UEFA Super Cup.

The 2021 Copa America edition will be disputed in Argentina and Colombia, and is set to start on Sunday, June 13th, with the match that will face Argentina and Chile in Buenos Aires, while the Final of the competition will take place in Barranquilla, on July 10th. In addition to Buenos Aires and Barranquilla, other cities in Argentina and Colombia where the 28 matches of the competition will take place will be Cordoba, Mendoza, Santiago del Estero, Bogota, Cali and Medellin.

Olek Loewenstein, Executive Vice President, Sports Strategy & Planning at TUDN, is one of the confirmed speakers in the coming Nextv Sport Latin America virtual edition, which will take place on May 4th and 5th. The executive will participate in the panel ‘The new era of sports TV production’, which will take place during the second day of the event.
