Ultravision to offer pay TV through OTT in Mexican cities

Mexican operator Ultravisión launched its pay TV service through OTT in Puebla and Atlixco cities through the Conax Go live platform, which offers linear content such as sports, news, entertainment and HD channels with pause functions, start over and catch TV, which will be available on Smart TVs, tablets and smartphones.

The app can be downloaded in Play Store for Android and AppStore for iOS, and has a monthly cost of USD 5. The Ultravision expansion plan includes the Double Play offer in Aguascalientes, Guerrero, Jalisco, Tlaxcala and Veracruz. Last year, the company also announced its Triple Play operations.

For Double Play’s design and operation, Ultravision developed partnerships with Broadpeak. ‘Our initial plan is to launch 50 live channels through multi-screen IPTV. Broadpeak’s solutions are completely software-based, highly flexible and scalable, which will make sure there will be no problems in its implementation and make it easier for us to add more channels and offers as the service grows in popularity’, said Patricio Zorrilla, vice president of the company.

Ultravision used to have a pay TV system through MMDS and served more than 100 thousand customers. The executive said that their idea is to reach that amount of subscribers in the coming months.
