UEFA to launch its OTT outside Europe and the US

UEFA’s President, Aleksander Caferin, announced after being re-elected in Rome that the association ‘will launch its OTT platform in the next six months’. In a first step, it will only be available outside Europe and the US. Platform will be launched before 2019/2020 season.

Caferin pointed that one of the main purposes of the coming years will be to make football more accessible to all its fans around the world, thanks to new digital platforms. ‘We are fully aware of the revolution which is taking place, and we are in process of agreeing on historic partnerships with the world’s leading companies in this field’, he said.

In 2018 ESPN signed a media rights agreement with UEFA to continue broadcasting the Uefa Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Uefa Europe League in Latin America until 2021. In Brazil, Globo Group has European Football Championship 2020 rights in all platforms. Champions League was assigned to Facebook and Turner.
