Televisión Nacional Chile (TVN) revealed a 40% increase in advertising revenue in the first semester of 2021, compared to the same period last year. In total, it grew three percentage points above the industry average.
As reported by the operator, total revenues were USD 2,380 million in the first half of 2020. While from January to June 2021, the total amount was USD 4,867 million, which represents an increase of 27.1%.
In addition to the increase in advertising and business, other factors that helped the growth of the broadcast TV service were better commercial efficiency, economic reactivation and the implementation of new products, such as its new OTT.
The TVN Play platform was launched in July with free access for all Chileans, and in less than a month it surpassed 100,000 registered users. “We seek to gather the best of the content in one place so that all our users can consume both the current content of TVN and the historical one, which is a very important part of the lives of many Chileans. We digitized content that didn’t exist before and created a Historical Archive section, the most valuable in the brand”, Diego Valdés, General Editor of Digital Platforms at TVN Chile, explained about the service on the first day of the Nextv Series South America event.
