TV Peru to provide broadcasting services via satellite to reach areas without telecommunications offers

As reported by several specialized websites in Peru this last Wednesday, the country’s Transport and Communications Ministry (MTC) led the Peruvian Radio and Television National Institute (IRTP), the entity in charge of the TV channel ‘TV Peru’, to provide the satellite broadcasting service, for educational purposes.

The MTC explained that the service will allow several families to access the State Channel’s TV channels through a satellite hub, which requires the implementation of an antenna and a STB connected to each user’s TV set. ‘This measure is the starting point to increase the expansion of broadcasting services in areas that do not have telecommunications services available. We are focused on providing the facilities to reach more remote populated centers, and, this way, expand the arrival of the State Channel, especially in a context where it is really important to keep ourselves communicated and connected’, highlighted the MTC’s General Director of Authorizations in Telecommunications, Mariella Carrasco.

This way, the IRTP will be able to offer the TV channel throughout the Peruvian territory, giving priority to those areas that do not have telecommunications offers available. As reported by Carrasco, it is now up to the entity to define the deadlines for technical implementation.
