As part of its Q1 2021 results report presentation, the Mexican pay TV operator Totalplay (Grupo Salinas) reported a total of 1,796 million pay TV subscribers, an area in which the company made a 55% growth compared to Q1 2020. In addition , the reported figure is also higher than the number of pay TV subscribers in Q4 2020, when just over 1.6 million customers were reported, together with a 54% annual growth in the sector.
According to Totalplay’s report, in addition to pay TV, other business units that reported a good performance at the end of Q1 2021 were internet, with 2,695 million subscribers and a 66% growth in relation to March 31st, 2020; while the telephony offer grew in a 74% between Q1 2020 and the same period 2021, and ended March with a total of 2,628 million customers.
‘’Totaplay Residencial’’s dynamism shows the preference of thousands of users for the solid internet services offer, with speeds of up to 500 Mbps, content on applications and linear TV attributes that optimize the customer’s entertainment experience, as well as telephony solutions with worldwide coverage from the mobile application’, they officially reported from Totalplay.
On the other hand, Totalplay reported having ended the first three months of the year with 10.7 million FTTH HPs, a figure that experienced a 9% growth in relation to the 9.8 million FTTH HPs reported at the end of Q1 2020. Apart from that, the Mexican company ended 2020 with 10.5 million homes passed, thus adding 200 thousand new FTTH HPs during the last three months.
