TiVo adds Amazon Prime Video app for pay TV customers in the US

TiVo introduced the Amazon Prime Video app on some TiVo devices for its pay TV operators customers in the US. The integration means that pay TV subscribers with Amazon Prime membership can stream content via the Prime Video app, or select TiVo devices and use the TiVo voice remote. Customers can also use OnePass, a TiVo feature that gathers every episode of a serie available from anywhere.

Content available in the Prime Video app will be available through OneSearch, which finds entertainment across live TV, on demand and other streaming video apps.

‘Providing Prime members with great content and offering them an excellent viewing experience has always been our priority’, said Andrew Bennett, Head of Global Distribution and Partner Marketing for Amazon Prime Video. ‘By making the Prime Video app available for select TiVo pay TV operator customers, we are able to further expand the number of people that can enjoy Prime Video’s popular movies, hit TV shows and exclusive Amazon Originals series as part of the seamless viewing experience’, he added.

For Amazon, the deal boosts its distribution of Prime Video across tradicional  video service platforms. Earlier this year, Prime Video ran similar integration agreements with both Altice and Virgin Media in the US. Apart from that, TiVo has been chosen by Sky Mexico, Minerva and Izzi Telecom as metadata suppliers.
