TikTok launched a new version of its application, TikTok TV, to expand its reach on televisions. During November 2021, the platform signed with Amazon Fire TV, Google TV, Android TV, LG and Samsung to enable access from their devices in the United States and Canada, thus ushering in a new era for its popular short video format.
In recent times, the company began a new strategy to position itself as one of the main entertainment homes and capitalize on the television audience of its format, which has been taken and recreated by services such as YouTube and Netflix to stay current.
On the new version of the platform, TikTok said: “It’s designed for a TV viewing experience at home, making it easy to view content from our ‘For You’ and ‘Following’ broadcasts on the big screen“. On the other hand, it also clarified that users who already have an open account will be able to access it from their televisions, and that there will even be an adapted version of the “Discover” page of the app.
