Telefonica announced it will produce original fiction series in Latin America. According to the company, the first three are being pre produced  in Colombia and Peru, and the first releases will be made during the second half of the year. The content will be available on Movistar Series, Movistar TV and Movistar Play. The offer does not include Brazilian mobile clients.

‘After the success achieved by the original fiction content produced by Telefonica in Spain, it was natural that we expanded this same strategy to Latin America’, said Paula Figueroa, Telefónica Video Unit Director. She also indicated that ‘we have transformed our video platform into an aggregator where our customers can access from one place  to our own and third parties best contents’. Regarding Tefonica’s expansion with its new series, Figueroa said that ‘with our commitment to original production, we want to transform our channels into the best showcase to show all the talent and creativity of a large community that has Spanish as a common language’.

The company will produce about five series in Latin America between 2019 and 2020. Chilean, Argentine and Mexican markets will also be added to Colombia and Peru. In Nextv Series Argentina will speak Gustavo Castro, Content Manager of Movistar Play, and in Nextv Series Colombia will take part Aníbal Mauricio Vásquez Murcia, TV and Video Manager of Telefonica.
