Telecom features more pay TV subscribers and strengthens its gaming offer in Flow during Q1 2021

As part of its Q1 2021 financial results report presentation, Telecom Argentina reported a total of 3.5 million customers on its pay TV offer. According to the information reported by the company, the figure shows a drop of 23.6 thousand customers in relation to Q4 2020, although, in relation to Q1 2020 there is evidence of an increase, since the company had ended the first three months of 2020 with 3,479 million subscribers in the area.

The company’s monthly pay TV ARPU was valued at AR $ 1,540.6 (USD 16) as of March 31st, 2021, while the churn was 1.2%, slightly lower than the 1.4% that Telecom had reported in Q1 2020.

On the other hand, during the first three months of the year, the company ‘continued to optimize its entertainment offering with innovative and high-quality content through its Flow platform’. This way, Telecom highlighted its participation in the BAFICI Festival (Buenos Aires Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente), awarding the ‘Flow Award’ to Argentine cinema. In addition, Telecom emphasized the strengthening of content related to gaming, and the consolidation of esports as an entertainment and local consumption phenomenon. In January, the Liga Master Flow 2021 started, described by Telecom as ‘the largest League of Legends competition in Argentina’, organized by the Liga de Videojuegos Profesional (LVP) and Flow.

In relation to its mobile client portfolio, Telecom reported more than 21 million subscribers, of which almost 18.8 million belong to Personal, its mobile operator; while Nucleo (Personal Paraguay) featured more than 2 million customers at the end of Q1 2021. Both services have, since the end of 2020, the Disney+ platform integrated as part of their offer. During February, Telecom announced the start of the first 5G network in Argentina, installing 10 Personal mobile antennas in the cities of Buenos Aires and Rosario, to continue strengthening the fixed-mobile convergent network.

In addition, the company reported to have about 4.2 million broadband accesses in Argentina during the period, around 12 thousand more than those reported as of December 31st, 2020. In Q1 2021, the broadband ARPU reached AR $1,358.4 (USD 14) per month, while the churn of the segment in the period was 1.6%. In addition, about 74% of broadband clients had, at the end of Q1 2021, an offer of 20 mb or more.
