Telecom Argentina records more than one million Flow Boxes distributed and loses pay TV subscribers

In its  Q1 2020 results report presentation, Telecom Argentina reported to have more than one million Flow Boxes distributed. The exact figure amounts to 1,015 thousand, and shows 49 thousand STBs more than the 966 thousand reported at the end of 2019. Likewise, compared to Q1 2019, the company recorded 413 thousand Flow Boxes more distributed to its customers.

The report also highlights that, as of Q1 2020, the number of subscribers to its TV offer totaled almost 3.5 million, 22 thousand fewer clients in relation to Q4 2019. On the other hand, the monthly TV ARPU for the first quarter of the year reached AR$ 1,250.6 (USD 18.44). Likewise, the average monthly churn was 1.4%, being 1.5% in Q1 2019, and cable TV services sales in Argentina reached AR$ 13.1 million (USD 193.4 thousand ), AR $ 1,079 million (USD 15.9 thousand) less than the figure reported in Q1 2019.

During the first quarter of the year, the company continued adding new content and co-productions into Flow. In addition, with the aim of being together with its clients during the quarantine period due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Telecom allowed all Cablevision clients to download the Flow app for free, The Flow app offers linear TV channels and more than 13 thousand hours of on demand content, through a catalog of series, films, documentaries, gigs and e-sports competitions , added to the possibility of renting recently released films Some of the co-productions available in Flow that the report refers to are the Argentine series El Tigre Veron, Tu parte del trato -both produced by Cablevision, Turner, El Trece and Polka-,  Atrapa a un ladron (with Viacom International Studios), and others.  Likewise, Los Internacionales’, a new co-production by Viacom International Studios (VIS), Olympusat, The Mediapro Studio and Flow, will be released this Wednesday May 20th in Argentina through the FTA TV channel Telefe, and the next day, Thursday 21st , will be fully available to be watched on demand on Flow.

The Telecom report also highlighted that, as of March 31st, 2020, the number of broadband accesses totaled about 4.1 million, 49 thousand fewer than those reported in Q4 2019. Likewise, in 1Q20 the broadband ARPU  reached AR$ 1,107.5 (USD 16.33) per month, and the monthly churn for the period was 1.6%. Telecom also mentioned that almost 66% of broadband customers had, at the end of Q1 2020, a  20Mb or more offer (which has increased compared to the participation recorded in Q1 2019, which was 44%).
