Telecentro launches 4K set-top box ahead of FIFA World Cup

Argentine pay TV operator Telecentro announced the launch of a new 4K set-top box (STB) to access the World Cup matches through DirecTV Sports network, among other contents. Customers can change their current boxes or ask for the new equipment when subscribing the service.
The company said in a statement that digital subscribers with the HD Pack can request the new STB and replace it for the old one. New customers can also order one or more 4K equipment. The installation cost is AR $ 3,500 (USD 138).
The 4K Ultra HD STB offers the same user experience as the Smart HD box. This way, clients can access the same Telecentro Play features, and series and movies on demand. The World Cup games are produced and broadcast in 4K exclusively through DirecTV Sports 4K (owner of the rights), available on Telecentro’s 4,000 channel.
In addition, the operator’s customers will be able to access World Cup matches from their mobile devices through Telecentro Play, and if they connect to any of the 7,500 Wi-Fi hotspots of the operator, they will not use their mobile data.
