StarzPlay, Lionsgate’s American cable streaming service, has teamed up with Academy Award-winning media company Image Nation Abu Dhabi to create its first original series for StarzPlay Arabia, titled Urban Legends.
The six-part project will be a series of anthologies in the Arabic language based on regional Middle Eastern tales and fables, which will tell a different story. Urban Legends will be produced by Starship Entertainment, with Yasir AlYasiri at the head of production. Other regional directors are expected to be announced.
The production is scheduled to start in 2020 and the series is planned to air late in the same year.
