Sony to stop marketing TVs in Brazil at the end of March

Japanese multinational company Sony has announced this Monday, March 1st, through its official social networks that it will finish its commercial activities in Brazil at the end of this month, as it had reported in mid-September 2020. This way, the company will stop selling TVs, cameras, audio devices and other products that are manufactured in the country.

In 2020, Sony announced its decision to close its Manaus subsidiary in Brazil after 50 years of operations, which had about 220 employees. As reported by Sony at that time, the decision was made ‘considering the recent market environment and the expected trend for business’.

Despite the discontinuity of its commercial activities in Brazil, Sony reported that the rest of its business units in the country (Games; Professional Solutions; Music and Pictures) will continue to operate in that market, without any modification.
