Sony to produce Colombian cyclist Rigo Uran series

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) announced it has acquired the rights to tell Rigoberto Uran story, Colombian cyclist who will be the central point of this project produced by SPT and filmed in Colombia and several European countries under Ana Bond’s leadership.

‘We are deeply excited to work with ‘Rigo’ -as he is commonly known- in this real-life drama production, which tells us about human courage. Rigo’s story is inspiring, and we are sure it will be very well received by our global audiences’, said Ana Bond,Managing Director & SVP, International Production, Latin America & US Hispanic at SPT.

Uran won a silver medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games, and became the first Colombian on the Giro d’Italia podium, event in which he was the runner up in 2013 and 2014. Three years later, he also became the runner up in the Tour de France, and this year he took the seventh place in the same event. This year, while holding the fourth place at the Cycling Tour in Spain, Uran had an accident that caused him several serious injuries, from which he is recovering.
