Smithsonian Channel launches in Latin America with DirecTV

Smithsonian Channel announced its launch in Latin America through DirecTV (Channel 1747) service in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and the Caribbean. The offer includes programming in 4K.
The channel, inspired by the Smithsonian Institution, presents content from its parent companies, Showtime and CBS. The programming includes documentaries, series and shows on history, culture and science, among others. With the launch in Latin America on DirecTV, Smithsonian Channel continues its international expansion, following its recent launch in Canada and Singapore.
We love seeing our brand resonate all over the world, and are pleased Latin American viewers will have access to our channel,” said in a statement Tom Hayden, president of Smithsonian Networks. The agreement with DirecTV for the region was achieved by Castalia Communications.
“By making 4K UHD technology available to the region, we reaffirm our commitment to be at the forefront of technology and to deliver the best experience to our customers,” commented Rick Nerod, SVP content of DirecTV Latin America.
