SES in talks to offer 4K channels in Brazil

Global satellite operator SES is in negotiations to offer 4K channels in Brazil with content from the United States and Europe, according to Jurandir Pitsch, the company’s VP of Sales & Market Development for Latin America and Caribbean.
The executive said they are not Premium channels or options like “Disney or Discovery”, instead, they are “more segmented channels, of nature, sports, music and fashion,” he explained to local media TelaViva. Pitsch did not disclose the companies with which they are negotiating since they are still registering in Ancine (National Film Agency) and beginning to work on dubbing and subtitling.
In April, the operator announced the launch of its Ultra HD platform in Latin America with the aim of accelerating the commercial implementation of 4K among pay TV operators in the region. For this project, the company works in partnership with producers, who upload their content to the platform and only begin to pay once they finalize distribution agreements with the operators.
