OpenView HD, the free HD satellite TV service in South Africa owned by Platco Digital, has gone beyond the threshold of 500,000 TV households this week. Celebrating its third birthday this October, OpenView HD will be revealing the launch of its new channel.
Patrick Conroy, the managing director of Platco Digital, said that: “500 000 active OpenView HD set-top boxes is significant because the platform now has at least two million viewers. The more popular channels include e.tv HD, eMovies Plus, DaVinci Learning, Glow TV and our new addition to the OpenView HD bouquet Trace Sport Stars”.
He further added that: “The mix of content including educational, children and entertainment programming is appealing to our target market. First time buyers of multi-channel television are enjoying the choice that the platform offers”.
Being the free digital satellite platform powered by e.tv in South Africa, OpenView HD is an affordable TV alternative with free access to numerous channels. There is no monthly subscription fee and apart from South Africans, Zimbabweans have access too. OpenView HD offers content in 720p (where possible) on channels like eHD, eToonz+, eKasi+, eMovies+, and Beatlab.tv.
