The number of pay TV accesses in Mexico grew 1% for June 2021, compared to the results obtained during the same month of the previous year, as announced by the Federal Telecommunications Institute in a press release. In total, 20.5 million users were registered, 196 thousand more than in 2020, and it was estimated that of every 100 households in the region, 58 have access to the service.
On the other hand, regarding internet connection access, the fixed service increased 12.4% compared to the same semester of the previous year, after gaining 2.5 million new users. Meanwhile, the mobile internet service registered an annual growth of 12.6%, after surpassing 108 million accesses.
However, the IFT affirmed that despite the growth in the number of accesses to services, the total revenues of the operators were lower than those at the end of the first half of 2020, with a difference of approximately USD 49 million.
