New OTT CNN + announces launch date and subscription cost

CNN +, the new streaming service of the CNN news network, will be launched in the United States in March 2022, as confirmed by international media. In addition, it was revealed that the platform, which will include original content and in Spanish, will have an initial subscription cost of USD 5.99 per month.

At the end of last November, the CNN En Español division stated that all its programming will be available on CNN + to expand its reach to the Spanish-speaking public in the United States. Cynthia Hudson, senior VP and general director of CNN en Español and Hispanic Strategy for CNN / US, revealed that during 2020, the channel’s page had a record of 35 million visits globally and that it registered “a positive trend that was accentuated even more so among Hispanics in the United States, where CNNEspanol.com rose + 23% during the same period of time”. “We are going to have several series and documentaries that are going to be broadcast and that will be available within the platform. There will be originals for CNN Plus and other things that will be shared as the greatest hits of what we do“, she said about the content.

On the other hand, the international brand affirmed that in addition to the traditional news segments, it will offer a wide selection of documentaries and programs with stars from Hollywood, such as Eva Longoria, Chris Wallace and Stanley Tucci, who will arrive on the OTT with his series Searching for Italy. Also, it revealed that it will transfer to the new platform all the brand content that until now was available on HBO Max, such as the show Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, and that consequently it will stop producing programs for the WarnerMedia service.
