Netflix launches new unscripted productions in Brazil

After having announced investments in Mexico for more than USD 300 million for this year, Netflix reported that it will launch five new original unscripted productions to its catalog in Brazil, which will be released during 2021. As reported by Netflix, titles are focused on reality shows, entertainment programs and documentaries, and will expand the platform’s original productions in this segment.

‘The launch of unreleased content in Brazil boosts our partnership with the local creative community, both in the creation and production of new stories’, said Elisa Chalfon, Manager,  Non-Fiction Series for Netflix in Brazil. ‘Meanwhile, our successful global originals will continue to feature their 100% Brazilian versions, complementing our fiction productions and connecting thousands of fans around the world’ , added the executive.

The five titles announced are ‘Casamento às Cegas’, the already announced Brazilian version of ‘Love is Blind’; ‘Brincando com Fogo’, a reality show produced by Fremantle, in which single men and women will be in a heavenly place and, to win, they must avoid any kind of contact between them; ‘É o amor’, documentary series based on the love relationship between a father and his daughter; an untitled reality show produced by Floresta Produções, in which four entrepreneurs will show their products to a technical jury and 100 other consumers; and ‘Queer Eye Brasil’, also produced by Floresta Produções, in which five experts in different disciplines will help transform aspects of the lives of different people.

Days ago, as part of its Q4 2020 quarterly results presentation, Netflix reported having ended the year with more than 37 million subscribers in Latin America. In addition, the platform reported that, as of December 31st, 2020, the Brazilian film ‘La navidad es mi condena’ (Tudo Bem no Natal que Vem), was watched in around 28 million households globally.
