Netflix announces six new animated projects

Netflix unveiled a slate of animated event programming – both feature films and original series. The list includes six new titles, which will join the other seven projects already announced. In this way, the company prepares to compete with Disney’s upcoming OTT service.
New titles announced include “Maya and the three” (2021), an animated limited series created, written, and directed by Jorge Gutierrez; “My Father’s Dragon” (2021), a 2D animated family feature film from director Nora Twomey; “Go! Go! Cory Carson” (2019), an animated preschool series; “Kid Cosmic” (2020), a show produced by Craig McCracken (“The Powerpuff Girls”); “Trash Truck” (2020), is series in production from Max Keane and “The Willoughbys” (2020), a CG animated feature film currently in production with BRON Animation.
Other Netflix animated titles that have been previously announced include “Jacob And The Sea Beast” (2020), “Klaus” (2019), “Mighty Little Bheem” (2019), “Motown Magic”, “Over the Moon” (2020), “Wendell & Wild” and “Pinocchio” (2021), the animated feature film directorial debut of Academy Award winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.
According to the company, nearly 60% of Netflix members on a global basis enjoy kids and family content every month. “We know that there is no one type of family. We embrace all kinds of creators so we can tell unique and diverse stories that resonate with each and every Netflix family,” said Melissa Cobb, Vice President of Kids and Family at Netflix.
