NBCUniversal to launch Peacock with nine original productions

Peacock, NCBUniversal’s SVOD OTT, will be officially launched on July 15th with nine original productions, as the company officially reported. The platform joins the OTT market together with Disney+, officially launched in November, and HBO Max, which will be released next May 27th. Up to now,  Peacock has not confirmed his arrival date in Latin America.

The new productions are divided into different genres, including drama, comedy, sports, and kids content. One of the most prominent dramas that will be available in the platform’s originals catalog is ‘Brave New World’, based on the self-titled book by British writer Aldous Huxley, starring Alden Ehrenreich, Harry Lloyd and Jessica Brown Findlay. It is an UCP co-production, in association with Amblin Television. The series is executive produced by David Wiener and Grant Morrison, along with Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey. Wiener also serves as series showrunner. Another drama that will be part of Peacock’s catalog is “The Capture”, a thriller based on the world of fake news and intelligence services, produced by Heydey Television and NBCUniversal Studios. The series, created and written by Ben Chanan, has already been released in the UK by BBC1.

Peacock’s originals catalog will be completed by titles like ‘Intelligence’, starring David Schwimmer; ‘Psych 2: Lassie Come Home’; the sports documentaries ‘In Deep With Ryan Lochte’ and ‘Lost Speedways’; and kids titles ‘Curious George’ (Universal 1440 Entertainment), ‘Cleopatra in Space’ (DreamWorks) and ‘Where’s Waldo?’ (DreamWorks). The announced originals are joined to other productions that will also be part of Peacock’s catalog, such as the entire Law & Order franchise, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Yellowstone, Two and a Half Men, 30 Rock, Cheers, Frasier, Battlestar Galactica, Friday Night Lights, Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, SNL and others.

‘Our variety of Peacock Originals at launch demonstrates how we deliver timely and timeless content – no matter the genre or format’, said Bill McGoldrick, President of Original Content, Peacock. ‘We are proud to establish our voice and are excited to build on our strategy to attract a wide audience to Peacock’, he added.
