NBCUniversal officially launches Peacock in the US

NBCUniversal officially launched this July 15th Peacock, its new platform, in the US, with a catalog that includes live and on demand content from the company. The platform was launched with three different models: one free with advertising; another premium, also with advertising, for USD 4.99 per month, and another premium without ads, for a USD 9.99 monthly subscription. Up to now, NBCUniversal has not announced the launch date of its OTT in Latin America.

‘From current, classic and original movies and series to news and live sports, selected channels and trending content worldwide, Peacock is the only free and premium streaming service, with advertising, that brings together everything that consumers love from the TV and streaming world’, said Matt Strauss, Peacock’s President.

Peacock’s free plan offers access to over 13 thousand hours of content, including a movie catalog, new episodes from current seasons of NBCUniversal series, episodes from Peacock Originals and various TV shows. Sports contents are also included, including four exclusive Premier League matches on July 15th, coverage of the US Open Championship and the Women’s Open Championships, NFL events and others selected from the upcoming Tokyo and Beijing Olympics Games. In addition, the catalog will include on-demand replays of sports events and series, as well as documentaries and movies.

The premium plan, with and without advertising, ables users to access to more than 20 thousand hours of content, including the catalog available in the free version, and the complete catalog of Peacock Originals, together with the full collection of series, movies and even series for children. Months before its launch, NBCUniversal confirmed that Peacock will feature original productions, to which four others will be added: ‘Hitmen’ (which will be released on August 6th); ‘Five Bedrooms’ (August 13th); ‘A.P. Bio’ (September 3rd) and ‘Departure’ (September 17th). It also offers early access to NBCUniversal programming, in addition to Telemundo series.

Peacock Premium also features a live and on-demand sports catalog, featuring 175 exclusive matches from the 2020/2021 season of the Premier League, and championships from other disciplines such as the Tour de France (cycling) and over 100 hours of content from WWE.
