Movistar launched its OTT multi-device Movistar Play in Argentina. The offer is available to customers who have internet in their homes or postpaid mobile plans, and will allow them to access videos, TV channels and movies – live and on demand – that will be accessible on cell phones, computers, notebooks , tablets and Smart TVs to watch them at the moment the client considers it.
To access Movistar Play, customers must download the application (which is available for iOS and Android), or enter www.play.movistar.com.ar and activate their accounts. The service is available through the company’s fixed and mobile connectivity, and also from any broadband. Once registered, customers can access Movistar Series, an exclusive Movistar productions channel with an on demand catalog and content available only on Movistar; Movistar eSports, a network exclusively focused on electronic sports and video games; in addition to the Public TV and La Nación + channels, and series and movies on demand.
Customers can also rent movies, and will have premieres and classics available, as well as advanced features that will allow them to access content 24 hours after its broadcast, pause live programming and start programming from the beginning, regardless of the original broadcast time . In addition, the OTT’s presentation brings the exclusive benefit of access directly and without any extra charge to the HBO catalog until April 12th. Once that period is over, those who wish to continue accessing this content must subscribe themselves to it, and they will have it available for USD 6.1. Movistar is the first company in Argentina to present a multi-device platform to watch video content without subscribing to a cable operator offer.
Movistar Play was also launched in Mexico last Thursday. Into other benefits, users will be able to access Mexican channel TV Azteca programming, where they will be able to watch the company’s original productions. ‘We came from a business model that was built only for TV content. Today we build content with the potential to be distributed not only in Mexico but worldwide in different platforms. The partnership with Movistar allows us to reach 200 million potential clients throughout Latin America’, said Andrés Polo, in charge of Data Science at TV Azteca, and estimates that the channel’s contents are available to three million users on Movistar Play only in Mexico, which are added to the rest of the clients that already have it in the rest of Latin America, with content from live channels, novels, series and exclusive productions of Dopamine, a TV Azteca company.
