According to Telefónica Mexico, Movistar Play will be launched in that country on March 21st. Its offer will include its own production series, films, exclusive TV channels, sports, children’s content, documentaries and access to Netflix, with whom Telefónica has a global alliance for offering content. The company also reported that customers can watch all offers available on two devices simultaneously with a Movistar Play account. The application would be downloaded by iOS and Android users.
To make the app registration effective, Movistar Mexico customers must provide their customer number. The offer is not associated in prepaid plans, but when entering a customer number with the company’s plan, an email and a password will be requested. Before completing the registration, system will inform the subscriber that Movistar Play has no monthly cost, as long as client has an active plan. Premium films and subscriptions acquired with an additional cost will be charged according to the value indicated on the company’s website.
Lite Plan, Movistar Play’s basic subscription, costs USD 2.5 monthly, and includes original Movistar series and a company channel. There are also FTA TV programs available, movie rentals and recent movie premieres. The next plan is the International Package, which includes a large part of the Fox + package (with the exception of special events and the Fox Action, Fox Cinema, or Fox Movies networks). The cost is USD 7, and for USD 1.5 more subscribers can add Disney channels (including its sports networks), ESPN, Discovery, Nick and MTV. Movie premiere rentals are available for USD 2.5, in SD quality.
