Megacable’s Xview reached 332,000 subscribers

Mexico’s pay TV operator Megacable announced this week its financial results for the second quarter. The company recorded 3.15 million video subscribers, a 7.9% growth (or 230,000 net adds) compared to Q217, “reaching the fifth consecutive quarter of growth”. Multiscreen service Xview “continues to experience a positive performance”, reaching 332,000 subscribers in 2Q18, which represents an increase of 33.3% compared to 1Q18.
Xview is the company’s next-generation multi-screen platform that combines on demand content with linear TV, and is available through multiple devices. The platform was launched in June last year.
In its report, the company said the internet segment “continues to drive Megacable’s overall subscriber growth”, increasing by 403,000 net adds or 16.7% to reach 2.81 million subscribers in 2Q18, compared to 2Q17. In addition, the operator ended the period with 1,62 million telephony subscribers (+25.1%).
Total Q218 revenues reached MX$ 4,932 million (USD 259 million), an increase of 19.4% compared to 2Q17. The video segment registered MX$ 2,004 million (USD 105.2 million), internet MX$ 1,501 million (USD 78.8 million) and telephony MX$ 411 million (USD 21.5 million).
