In its Q1 2020 quarterly results report, Megacable reported that its Xview OTT ended the period with 874 thousand subscribers and 47 thousand net additions, which means, according to the company, a 5.7% growth compared to Q4 2019, when it recorded 827 thousand. Megacable also made 57 thousand additions to its HD offer, which now has more than one million subscribers, and noted that 84% of its subscriber base is digital. In addition, the company records 4.9 million distributed STBs at the end of the period.
According to the Mexican group’s quarterly report, at the end of Q1 2020 3.2 million subscribers were recorded in its video segment. The figure shows a 1.1% growth (or 37 thousand net additions) compared to Q1 2019 data. In turn, in relation to Q4 2019, the segment added 9 thousand subscribers. Likewise, Megacable’s video sector added more subscribers during Q1 than the internet (3.1 million) and telephony (2.1 million) segment.
The group’s total income at the end of the first three months of the year totaled MX$ 5,520,089 (USD 221 thousand), 7.2% more than the figure made in the same period 2019 (MX $ 5,150,290), that is, USD 206 thousand. In turn, as of Q4 2019, Megacable’s total income was valued at MX $ 5,624,945 (USD 225 thousand).
Revenue from the video sector in Q1 2020 was MX $ 2,336,431 (USD 93.5 thousand). The figure means an 8% increment compared to the same period 2019 (MX $ 2,190,401, equivalent to USD 87.7 thousand). The figure is also higher than the MX $ 2,289,497 (USD 91.6 thousand) recorded at the end of 2019. According to the figures presented by Megacable at the end of Q1 2020, the income of the video sector is also higher than the one recorded on the company’s internet and telephony areas.
Another of the most relevant news of the company is related to the announcement made by Enrique Yamuni, CEO of Megacable, which is focused on an about USD 400 million investment in a new FTTH migration project developed with GPON technology. According to the executive, the network will be deployed in the main cities where Megacable is operating.
