Mauritius Telecom (MT) will soon roll out the mobile money service. The announcement was made during the opening ceremony of the 39th edition of the conference of the Southern Africa Telecommunications Association (SATA).

The CEO of Mauritius Telecom (MT), Sherry Singh, said, “I believe in the digitization of money. We will soon launch a service, the Mobile Money, which goes in this direction. It will be a disruptive approach to bring something unique and interesting for Mauritians.”

 Without giving further details on this project which is in the process of being finalized, the CEO of Mauritius Telecom expressed his confidence in the legal and technological ecosystem in place. Mauritius Telecom will act according to the regulatory framework of the Bank of Mauritius.

Singh concluded, “We are pleased that the Bank of Mauritius and the Government have provided the necessary framework for us to be able to innovate.”
