Liberty Global and Hemisphere plan offer to acquire Univision

According to what was reported by Bloomberg, Liberty Global and Hemisphere are working together to present an offer to acquire Univision Communications Inc. The financial newspaper reported that Univision will receive acquisition offers until February and, according to those submitted, it will evaluate the possible buyer and whether or not the transaction is made. 

Apart from Hemisphere and Liberty Global, the Platinum Equity investment fund and Wade Davis, former Viacom CFO, who is also preparing an offer together  with several investment funds, are also interested.

Univision is owned by investment funds Madison Dearborn Partners, TPG, Providence Equity Partners, Saban Capital Group and Thomas H. Lee Partners, apart from Televisa, who also has a stake. On the other hand, Liberty Global belongs to the US businessman John Malone and has properties or investments in Discovery, All3Media, Lionsgate and ITV, in addition to pay-TV operations in America and Europe on its catalog. Finally, the Hemisphere portfolio includes Wapa TV, Pantaya, Cine Latino, Pasiones, pay-TV channels in Latin America and participations in Colombia’s Canal 1  and Television Dominicana.
