Kisan TV will be launched in the third week of April. The 24X7 channel dedicated to farmers was scheduled to go on-air on 14 April, 2015. Prasar Bharti will, however, be soft-launching the channel next week.
Government of India allocated INR1billion for Kisan TV in last year’s budget. Prasar Bharti has reportedly included inputs from agricultural institutes to create content for the channel. Documentaries, Docu Dramas, Cookery shows, daily soaps, reality shows will be part of Kisan TV’s content slate. The channel will also be showing agriculture-based bulletins.
The tentative date for channel launch now is 21 April, 2015. According to Indian Television, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unavailability has caused the delay in the launch of Kisan TV. The initial launch date for the channel was 14 January, 2015.All India Radio and the public broadcaster- Prasar Bharti- already air shows with agriculture-related content.
