iPlan to offer OTT options from 2020

Argentine telecom company iPlan announced an agreement with DirecTV to market the company’s DirecTV GO OTT within its FTTH network, and is also negotiating with Movistar and Cablevision to do the same with Movistar Play and Flow.

As reported by the Argentine newspaper La Nación, the company will offer DirecTV GO in 2020 and, during the celebrations for its 20 years in operation, they explained that it has a very advanced agreement with the DTH to offer its OTT. However, from iPlan they said that it will not be the only one to offer: ‘We do not want to be exclusive to one service, but to offer several, different ones’, said Damian Maldini, Iplan’s General Manager, together with its President, Pablo Saubidet.

From the company they said they are in talks with Movistar to offer Movistar Play and with ‘other competitors’, said Maldini, among whom, according to La Nación, Flow, from Cablevisión, could be included.

IPlan’s proposal will involve separating contents from their distribution networks: to have Flow, it is necessary to hire Cablevision’s offer. In Argentina, DirecTV GO is not marketed separately. To access its catalog, it is necessary to be a DirecTV customer. La Nacion also reported that ESPN channels, belonging to Disney, could also join iPlan’s OTT offer.
