Video streaming iflix has struck up an alliance with Vodafone Egypt to offer subscribers the iflix library of TV shows, movies and new local and regional Ramadan series for EGP1 per day.
Other than the deal, the video-on-demand provider (VOD) has already opened a new regional headquarter in Cairo. Iflix has stated that this move will bolster their position in the Middle East and North African markets (MENA), namely Egypt, Morocco and Saudi Arabia.
The Ceo of iflix MENA, John Saad, pointed out, “Egypt is the nerve centre of culture and creativity in the region. We are thrilled to set up our new regional head office here and partner with Vodafone Egypt, the country’s leading telecommunication service provider, to make our service available to tens of millions of customers across the country.”
This partnership with Vodafone and the opening of the new office was “an important milestone for iflix and our business in MENA,” said John Saad.
iflix, which focuses on emerging markets, provides a variety of streamed content, including comedies, drama, K-drama, Turkish drama, Bollywood, Nollywood, cartoons, movies, live sports and more from Hollywood, the UK, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. The VOD service enables users on up to five devices, allowing viewing options to suit each user per subscription.
The introduction of a free, advertising supported tier to its existing subscription-based online video service, as well as unspecified local free-to-air and Pay-TV channels was recently announced by iflix.
