Honduras puts analog blackout off due to Coronavirus

The Honduran National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel) decided to postpone the deadline for the analog blackout’s implementation in that country, which was scheduled for the end of this month, due to the advance of Covid-19 (Coronavirus).

Conatel’s decision makes changes on the entity’s 04/19 resolution, published on December 26th, 2019, which established April 27th as the deadline for operators to implement the migration from analog TV to DTT.

TV channels from the Central American country will migrate to DTT under the ISDB-T standard, adopted by Honduras for the transition. Analog TV to DTT migration in the country had already been postponed in December 2019, with the new date established for the beginning of January, which was finally re-scheduled to the end of April this year. However, and up to now, no new deadline has been set for moving the migration forward.
