HBO Max to feature live sports and news content

At an analysts conference, Randall Stepherson, CEO at AT&T, gave details about HBO Max content offering, WarnerMedia’s OTT platform, whose launch date is scheduled for 2020, and reported that its catalog could eventually include news and live sports.

‘You should assume that ultimately HBO Max will have live elements: unique live sports and premium sports’, Stephenson said, and added that ‘those are going to be really important elements for HBO Max. The same with news’. The executive cited WarnerMedia’s existing relationships with Major League Baseball (MLB), the NBA and NCAA men’s basketball tournament, and expressed that ‘there is a lot of opportunity to take advantage of the unique content deals that we have within WarnerMedia’.

Apart from that, the company established next October 29th as a date for a presentation with investors, where more details on HBO Max launch will be given. It will take place at the Warner Bros lot in Burbank, California.
