The Government of Venezuela launched “FTA Venezuela”, a free DTH service for its entire territory that will offer 27 national and international TV channels and 10 radio stations. Through the National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel), the State announced the project and described it as “the new way of watching television“.
However, although content viewing will be completely free, users must pay for an STB device (USD 29) and a satellite antenna (USD 22). In addition to Venezuelan signals, the grid will have the following channels from other countries: TV Pública (Argentina), Oromar Televisión (Ecuador), France 24 (France), RT (Russia), Televisión de Galicia (Spain), CGTN (China ), Canal Vasco (Spain) and HispanTV (Iran).
Through its social networks, Conatel shared an instruction manual for those who wish to purchase the “FTA Venezuela” tuning kit, which it also made available on the service’s official page. On the other hand, the Government clarified that those who already have a satellite antenna, coaxial cable or LNB, will only need the STB.
