Google has launched this Monday, June 7th, the beta version of YouTube Shorts in several markets in Latin America, which was already available in India and the US. It is a new option within YouTube, which allows users to create short videos, which can last up to 60 seconds, from mobile phones.
Latin American markets where Google is launching YouTube Shorts are Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
YouTube Shorts allows to add text to specific points of each video; use audios from other videos created to mix them into a new Short; add subtitles automatically; add clips from the cell phone gallery to include them in the recordings made with the Shorts Camera; add basic filters to change the color of the videos; and other features that will be available soon.
In addition, YouTube worked with several of its music partners, including UMG, Sony, Warner, Colonize Media, Lizos Music, SACM, SADAIC and others, so that artists and content creators have access to a library of songs to create their Shorts. ‘YouTube Shorts is a new way of watching and creating content on the platform. YouTube’s commitment is to support the next generation of creators of this new experience. That is why it is already actively working to define what the monetization options will be like in the future’, they reported from Google.
In addition, and as part of this commitment to help creators turn their creativity into business, YouTube Shorts has recently introduced a USD 100 million fund to be distributed between 2021 and 2022. ‘As more people create content and watch Shorts , the systems will be optimized looking for creators to find in these features a new way to let their imagination fly to connect themselves with their subscribers, who will be able to enjoy a new type of content on the platform, find more creators, songs and videos’, they informed from Google on the initiative.
