Globo signs with five Brazilian clubs to showcase their games

The Brazilian operator Globo signed a contract with five clubs participating in the Brasileirão championship to guarantee the exhibition of their games. From 2022 to 2024, the company will broadcast all the matches featuring the Santos, Juventude, Ceará, Fortaleza and Coritiba teams.

Just two weeks ago, WarnerMedia announced that it would stop broadcasting the Brazil soccer tournament starting next year. For this reason, seven of the participating teams were left without a contract for the following season, which is now also affected by the new Mandatory Broadcast Law, which grants the rights to the host club for each date. Now, four of those institutions have agreed with Globo so that their games can be viewed through the operator’s sports channel, SporTV.

As reported by the company, the 2019-24 model chosen for the contract establishes that 40% of the values will be divided equally between the participating clubs in the match, while 30% will correspond to the performance of the team in the Brasileirão and the other 30% remaining will be assigned according to the number of appearances each club has on television.
