Brazilian Grupo Globo announced days ago its decision to expand its TV rights to broadcast the South American Qualifying matches towards the next FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Qatar, in 2022. Until 2020, the company was only the holder of the rights for those matches that both Brazilian and Argentine National Teams played as locals, and now the company is adding the matches played by the eight remaining teams, also as local.

With the announcement, Globo will now be able to broadcast not only the matches that Brazil and Argentina dispute as locals throughout the Qualifiers, but also those starred by  National Teams of Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, also as local teams.

According to the information reported by the specialized website Notícias da TV, broadcasts will take place starting this coming Thursday, June 3rd, when the seventh fixture date of the South American Qualifiers begins. Matches of fixture dates seven and eight of the competition, which will take place on Thursday, June 3rd, Friday 4th and Tuesday 8th, will be broadcast in Brazil on the pay TV channel SporTV, with the exception of the one that will face Brazil and Ecuador,  this coming Friday, which can be watched in Brazil both on Sportv and by TV Globo, the company’s FTA TV channel.

Days later, starting on June 13th, the Copa America will take place, and will bring together the same teams that participate in the Qualifiers. The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) has finally confirmed this Monday, May 31st, that the competition will take place in Brazil, although the stadiums for each football match are not confirmed so far. Days ago, SBT announced that it will broadcast all Copa America’s matches exclusively for Brazil, on FTA TV.
