Globo cancels its fiction productions until April due to the pandemic worsening in Brazil

Brazilian company Globo has recently announced its decision to cancel all its fictions filming processes, with the aim of initially resuming them on April 4th. As reported from different specialized websites, the measure was taken due to the worsening of the Coronavirus pandemic in Brazil.

‘In relation to the worsening of the pandemic crisis and the restrictive measures established by the local authorities, Globo decided that, as of March 23rd, fiction productions will be interrupted’, the Brazilian company reported in this regard.

At the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, Globo had cancelled all the filming processes of its productions. In June, the Sindicato Interestatal de la Industria Audiovisual de Brasil  (Sicav) made a protocol in order to resume audiovisual productions filmings in the country, called ‘Protocolo de Segurança e Saúde no Trabalho Audiovisual Para Retomada Audiovisual das Atividades no Âmbito da Pandemia de Covid-19’, and which describes technical and organizational measures for risk assessment and prevention of Covid-19 infections.

However, the increase in Coronavirus cases in Brazil in recent months made Globo make the decision to stop its productions again for the coming 14 days. As reported by the company, the measure will not affect TV Globo’s programming.
