As part of its Q2 2021 results report presentation, the Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogota (ETB) reported that its FTTH customer base achieved a 11% growth during the first half of the year, and ended June with 374 thousand subscribers, which represents around 37 thousand new subscribers in relation to December 2020. Likewise, the company reports a total of 163 thousand FTTC clients, an area that has reported a 5% growth compared to last December 31st. At the end of Q1 2021, the company reported that its FTTH client base gathered 520 thousand subscribers.
ETB also reported that, during the first half of the year, its fixed service and TV customer bases have stabilized in relation to 2020. In the case of the company’s TV customer base, ETB ended June with 137 thousand subscribers, a figure that shows a 0.8% decrease in relation to December 2020. The number is also lower in relation to Q1 2021, when the base totaled 142 thousand clients.
The total number of the company’s fixed services as of June 30th was 900 thousand. In turn, FTTH clients already represent 60% of the company’s total fixed clients base. In addition, ETB reported that 77% of its broadband clients are FTTH customers. ‘Fiber optic growth continues to be driven by FTTH customers, with 16 thousand new users during Q2 2021, thus continuing with the trend of the previous quarters’, they have reported from the company. According to the figures reported by ETB, last March the company reported 359 thousand broadband clients via FTTH, and the figure increased to 374 thousand at the end of Q2 2021.
On its mobile business, the trend continues to decline: the company reported a total of 294 thousand clients as part of this base as of June 30th, of which 182 thousand are postpaid clients, and the remaining 112 thousand belong to the prepaid client base. According to the Colombian company, postpaid mobile clients represented 62% of its total mobile clients during the first six months of the year.
