Fox+ and Fox Premium D2C offer is also cancelled in Google Play and iTunes Store in Brazil

One day after the Disney+ launch in the US, Fox announced that its Fox+ and Fox Premium SVOD platforms will no longer be available 2DC in Google Play and iTunes Store in Brazil, starting today. The measure is added to the one announced in Mexico last week, where the company, owned by Disney since March, made the same decision.

As established, from today on, both platforms can only be accessed through a pay TV operator. Direct subscriptions will be cancelled from today on. In addition, in Brazil Fox+ and Fox Premium had entered into a legal controversy for Fox, after Claro reported that the platform was illegal.

According to Claro, since Fox+ offered Fox’s linear content for free, Fox+ had to be considered a pay TV operator. And, taking into account that the Brazilian Audiovisual Content Law (SeAC) bans a content generator from taking part of its distribution, Anatel decided to issue a precautionary measure to cancel the platform’s offer. Days later, Brazilian Justice cancelled the measure.
